Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the effects of the caffeine last?

It depends upon the weight and physiology of each person. Caffeine degrades at the rate of 50% every 3-4 hours and it is effective at doses around 20mg or higher for the average weight and metabolism. Hence with a 75 mg dosage, the average time until it drops below 20 mg will be around 6-8 hours. In addition, the Encaff® material will release over time, unlike regular caffeine.

How does the product taste?

Caffeine is normally very bitter. The Encaff Energy Stix™ uses a state-of-the art formulated product featuring a tasteless caffeine product, Encaff®. While very expensive to produce, this ingredient allows the consumer to enjoy the great taste of the product without having to use tons of sugar and flavor masking agents. The taste is fantastic!

What about caffeine crash?

Caffeine crash generally refers to the feeling of having a high dose of caffeine, usually sweetened with lots of sugar, and it is the loss of the sugar rush with the waning caffeine concentration that causes what some people call, the caffeine crash. The Encaff Energy Stix™ uses a proprietary caffeine material that works over time and has formulated the product with just enough sugar and sweeteners to give the product a great taste without consuming up to 12 teaspoons of sugar as some recent advertising have demonstrated. Hence, the Encaff Energy Stix™ does not typically give the consumer a caffeine crash.

I see it is a powder; do I have to mix it with water?

No. It is formulated to be used anywhere at anytime simply by putting it on your tongue, swirling it, and swallowing it. It is small, convenient, does not require special storage (avoid high temperatures for long periods of time to preserve the great flavor), and can be used whenever one starts to nod off during a class or a lecture, while driving, after a good workout to reduce fatigue, or anything that a simple boost in alertness is needed.

Can I consume too much? What is too much?

Every person is different. Some are more susceptible to the effects of caffeine while other are less so. Generally, one should not ingest more than about 300-500 mg of caffeine/day. Ingesting more than 2,000-3,000 mg of caffeine in a short period of time can cause caffeine poisoning, which could result in hospitalization. We recommend consuming no more than four packages per day, which is 300 mg caffeine total.

How much caffeine is in a cup of coffee?

It depends upon what people call a "cup" of coffee. A typical 8 ounce cup contains 50-100 mg of caffeine depending upon the bean used, roasting, and brewing time. Contrary to popular belief, lightly roasted coffee actually contains MORE caffeine than dark roasts. Size also matters. A "super-grande" or 8 shots of espresso can deliver 300-500 mg of caffeine in one punch. We formulated the Encaff Energy Stix™ to give an average amount of caffeine in one cup of coffee = 75mg.

Can I drink coffee and consume the Encaff Energy Stix™?

Yes. Just remember that each person’s tolerance for caffeine varies. If you feel jittery, you have reached the maximum level and need to stop drinking anymore coffee and consuming caffeine containing materials.

Can children use the product?

It is not recommended to be consumed by children under 14. Parents, with the advice of physicians should determine that.

Can pregnant women take it?
